Unplugging from Cable TV

Last night, on the way home from work, I stopped by the Time Warner office and returned my cable box.  it was ironically a fast, efficient and pleasant experience - nothing like the typical interaction I used to have with their fine folks in customer service.  But those long hours of listening to the customer service queue muzak, and being told "I am sorry you are frustrated sir....." are in the rearview mirror now - I am officially unplugged from cable TV.

I did it for a number of reasons:  To help (o.k. force) me to use my free time in a more simple and relaxing way - like reading and listening to music.  It also save some money - why pay for something you rarely watch?  Mostly it just eliminates something that was not adding any value to my life.

Will I play more guitar now?  Or read more regularly?  Or get a few laps in on the climbing wall before bed?  Who knows - but I won't be watching cable TV.
